November 18, 2022— Universidad De Manila, Philippines
From November 18 to December 12, 2022, and on November 25, 2023, the Universidad de
Manila (UDM) hosted its annual 18–Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW)
at the UDM Lobby. This event, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) –
Gender Equality, sought to raise awareness, promote advocacy, and mobilize action to
eliminate all forms of violence against women and children.
The campaign included a lecture forum led by Dr. Rhodora Bernal, Director of the Gender
and Development (GAD) office, and was attended by UDM faculty, employees, and
students. The forum highlighted the importance of policies that protect women, especially
those who report discrimination and violence. Participants were educated on the forms of
violence women face and the legal frameworks in place to safeguard their rights.
UDM’s commitment to this yearly campaign is a reflection of its broader mission to foster a
safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, where violence and discrimination have no
place.
