UDM Empowers First-Generation Female College Students: Paving the Way for Gender Equality
February 22, 2024— Universidad De Manila, Philippines
On February 22, 2024, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) took a significant step toward
ensuring a safe and respectful environment by establishing the Committee on Decorum
and Investigation (CODI), specifically aimed at addressing sexual harassment complaints
within the university. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) – Gender
Equality, this policy underscores UDM’s commitment to fostering a non–discriminatory and
inclusive workplace.
The CODI, consisting of seven members—five of whom are women—will handle
complaints of sexual harassment brought forward by employees, ensuring that all cases
are treated with fairness, confidentiality, and integrity. This initiative highlights UDM’s
proactive stance in combating discrimination against women and promoting gender
equality within its institution.
By creating this committee, UDM reinforces its dedication to providing a safe space for all
employees, emphasizing the importance of accountability and respect in the workplace.
