October 25, 2023— Universidad De Manila, Philippines
On October 25 and December 5, 2023, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) held two
important seminars at Palma Hall aimed at promoting a safe and inclusive environment for
both employees and students. The seminars, focusing on Anti–Bullying in the Workplace
for employees and the RA 11313 Safe Spaces Act for students, aligned with Sustainable
Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) – Gender Equality, particularly addressing policies protecting
those reporting discrimination.
The sessions were tailored to the unique experiences of each group. The seminar for
employees addressed workplace bullying and harassment, helping attendees recognize
even the subtle forms that often go unnoticed. UDM students, in turn, gained a deeper
understanding of the Safe Spaces Act, learning about their rights and the legal protections
available to them under RA 11313. Both groups were educated on how to identify
harassment, report incidents, and protect themselves in any situation of discrimination or
abuse.
These seminars are part of UDM’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of respect, safety, and
equality, ensuring that both students and staff feel protected and supported within the
university.
