For the Academic Year 2021–2022, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) saw a significant
increase in female representation, with 53.3% of its 19,065 applicants being women. This
progress, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) – Gender Equality, reflects

ensuring that women have the opportunity to pursue higher education and break societal
barriers.
Of the 3,303 first–year students accepted, 59.8% were female, continuing the trend of
higher female participation. Among the first–year enrollees, an impressive 90.4%
successfully completed their course program, with 1,788 female and 1,197 male students
advancing to their second year. These figures highlight the resilience and determination of
female students to excel in their academic pursuits.
UDM’s commitment to gender equality is evident in its ongoing efforts to track and improve
access to education for women, empowering them to lead and make significant
contributions to their communities. The university remains focused on closing the gender
