The Universidad de Manila’s University Research, Extension, Linkages, and International Affairs (URELIA) office, under the leadership of its director, Dr. Leila R. Gano, held a strategic meeting with the officers of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) to strengthen student involvement in the University’s Extension Linkages Agenda and Programs. The discussion focused on how the student body can contribute to ongoing and future community initiatives, particularly in Barangay 790, Zone 86.
Dr. Gano emphasized the significance of student participation in fostering sustainable, impactful, and community-driven extension projects. She provided an overview of URELIA’s Extension Platform and the College Extension Programs and Action Plan, highlighting their alignment with the university’s mission to create meaningful partnerships and extend educational, social, and environmental support to underserved communities.
The meeting also served as an avenue for URELIA to seek the active support of the SSG in mobilizing student volunteers, organizing outreach initiatives, and ensuring the successful implementation of the extension programs in Barangay 790, Zone 86. The collaboration aims to empower local communities by utilizing the expertise and knowledge of students across different colleges, addressing key societal concerns such as education, public health, environmental sustainability, and livelihood development.
The SSG Officers present at the meeting expressed their enthusiasm and commitment to the cause. SSG President Justine Sophia Sacaguing, along with Raffy Dela Vega, Nickole Cayago, and Gon Riesse Aujepo, affirmed their dedication to supporting URELIA’s extension agenda by engaging the student body, raising awareness, and encouraging student-led initiatives.
With the unwavering support of the SSG and student volunteers, URELIA is set to amplify its extension efforts and further strengthen UDM’s role in community development, ensuring that its programs leave a lasting and positive impact on Barangay 790 and beyond.
