The Universidad de Manila’s University Code, specifically Chapter 23, Article 29, Sections 9
and 10, outlines the pivotal role of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) as the primary
representative body for students. Serving as the voice of the student body, the SSG acts as a crucial link between students and the university administration, ensuring that student concerns, rights, and interests are properly communicated and addressed.
Section 9 of the University Code underscores the importance of the SSG in fostering a
collaborative and inclusive university environment. The SSG plays a vital role in promoting
transparency and accountability, ensuring that student perspectives are incorporated into
university decision–making processes.
Section 10 goes further by detailing the SSG’s responsibilities, which include advocating for
student rights, organizing enriching academic and extracurricular activities, and facilitating
effective communication between the students and the administration. These responsibilities aim to enhance the overall student experience, support academic growth, and build a vibrant campus culture.
As the SSG continues to uphold its mission, this structure demonstrates Universidad de Manila’s commitment to providing students with a platform for leadership, advocacy, and active participation in campus governance—aligning with the goals of SDG 16 for promoting inclusive and participatory institutions.
