February 7, 2024— Universidad de Manila, Manila, Philippines
On February 7, 2024, the Universidad de Manila (UDM), in partnership with the Department
of Interior and Local Government (DILG), proudly introduced the Associate in Barangay
Governance program under its Institute for Graduate and Professional Studies. This
innovative lifelong–learning initiative is designed specifically for barangay officials, with the
aim of enhancing their leadership, administrative skills, and public service capabilities.
Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) – Quality Education, the program
emphasizes UDM’s commitment to strengthening local governance by providing
grassroots leaders with the essential tools and knowledge they need to effectively serve
their communities. By offering specialized training in governance, UDM seeks to empower
barangay officials to improve public services and contribute to the socio–economic
development of their local areas.
The launch of this program marks a significant step forward in professionalizing local
governance and ensuring that community leaders are well–prepared to meet the
challenges of public service.
