On February 7, 2024, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) issued a memorandum inviting Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairpersons, Members, Secretaries, Treasurers, and other youth leaders to enroll in the Associate in Barangay Governance (ABG) Program offered by the Universidad de Manila (UDM).
The memorandum highlights the collaborative efforts between UDM’s Institute of Graduate and Professional Studies (IGPS) and DILG-Manila’s sub-Local Governance Resource Center (LGRC) in delivering this unique program. Designed to empower barangay officials and future leaders, the ABG Program aims to equip participants with critical managerial and leadership skills, ensuring effective and ethical governance at the grassroots level.
The DILG underscored the importance of this initiative, encouraging all concerned individuals to take advantage of this opportunity. Participation in the ABG Program is expected to significantly enhance their professional development and strengthen their capacity to serve their communities effectively.
This memorandum serves as a call to action for youth leaders to step up and contribute to building stronger, more capable barangay governance in the City of Manila and beyond.
