University Research Manual Orientation Equips UDM Faculty and Staff for Research Excellence
On September 22, 2022 (Thursday), the University Research Center (URC) of Universidad de Manila hosted a Research Manual Orientation via Zoom from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The event provided a comprehensive overview of UDM’s research framework, policies, and processes to guide faculty and staff in aligning their research endeavors with institutional priorities.
The program began with a solemn start led by Ms. Joanna Modina of the URC, who facilitated the Prayer, National Anthem, and Awit ng Maynila. This was followed by Welcome Remarks from Dr. Leila R. Gano, URC Director, who emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture and the importance of adhering to structured research protocols.
Key presentations during the orientation included:
The University Research Agenda, Thrusts, and Priorities 2022-2026, presented by Dr. Racidon P. Bernarte, University Researcher. This session outlined the strategic goals of UDM’s research initiatives, focusing on addressing local and global challenges.
The UDM Research Proposal Review, Evaluation, and Approval Process, led by Dr. Silvia Ambag, University Researcher, detailed the step-by-step procedures for submitting and securing approval for research proposals.
Project Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Completion, presented by Dr. Joseph Mercado, University Researcher, provided insights into effectively managing research projects to ensure their successful execution and impact.
The University Research Ethics, presented again by Dr. Racidon P. Bernarte, highlighted the ethical considerations and compliance protocols essential for conducting responsible research.
The UDM Research Writing Style and Format, delivered by Dr. Silvia Ambag, addressed the standards for preparing research outputs in line with institutional guidelines.
The program also featured an Open Forum, moderated by Ms. Joanna Modina, allowing participants to seek clarifications and provide feedback on the topics discussed. This interactive session ensured that attendees had a clear understanding of UDM’s research framework and processes.
The event concluded with Closing Remarks by Dr. Leny Dellosa, University Researcher, who reiterated the importance of adhering to the guidelines outlined in the research manual and encouraged faculty and staff to actively contribute to UDM’s research agenda.
