Universidad de Manila Officially Adopts Barangay 790 with Marker Unveiling Ceremony

On December 14, 2024, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) marked a significant milestone with the Unveiling of the Marker Ceremony at Barangay 790, Zone 86, District V, Sta. Ana, Manila. The event symbolized UDM’s commitment to Barangay 790 as its officially adopted community, a partnership solidified by a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on June 28, 2023. This collaboration underscores UDM’s dedication to fostering sustainable community development through its extension and outreach initiatives.
The event was graced by an esteemed lineup of UDM leaders, including President Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria, Vice President for Academic Affairs Ronald Herrera, Quality Assurance Director and CET Dean Dr. Rejan Tadeo, and representatives from the University Research, Extension Linkages, and International Affairs (URELIA) Office, led by Dr. Leila Gano. Extensionists from various colleges, college secretaries, Director-General Alistair Selorio, and other university personnel were also in attendance, reflecting the university’s unified support for its extension platform.
Barangay 790 counterparts, including Kagawads and Barangay Secretary Carmen Magsino, joined the event, reflecting the strong partnership between the university and the community. The unveiling of the marker symbolizes the beginning of deeper collaboration aimed at addressing pressing community needs through UDM’s expertise in education, research, and outreach.
This ceremony highlights UDM’s role as a proactive agent of change, exemplifying its mission to connect academic knowledge with real-world applications. As the university and Barangay 790 move forward in this partnership, the event serves as a testament to UDM’s commitment to empowering local communities and creating lasting impact.
