Manila, Philippines – Universidad De Manila (UDM) continues to make strides in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), “Good Health and Well-being,” by significantly contributing to the country’s healthcare workforce. The university’s most recent report reveals a rise in graduates from its health-related programs over the past two academic years, reflecting its ongoing commitment to producing skilled professionals ready to meet the nation’s healthcare needs.
For the academic year 2022-2023, UDM produced a total of 167 graduates in health professions, with 125 graduates from the Nursing department and 42 from the Physical Therapy department. This marks an increase from the 152 health profession graduates in the 2021-2022 academic year, which included 109 Nursing graduates and 43 Physical Therapy graduates.
This increase in health profession graduates is a crucial step toward addressing the growing demand for qualified healthcare workers in the Philippines. UDM’s dedication to providing quality education and training for its students ensures that these graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to promote health and well-being in their communities and beyond.
A Growing Contribution to Health and Well-being
The rise in the number of graduates in the health professions reflects UDM’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector, a key focus of SDG 3. By producing more qualified nurses and physical therapists, UDM is not only contributing to the well-being of the Filipino population but also helping to alleviate the shortage of healthcare professionals in both urban and rural areas.
The university’s Nursing and Physical Therapy programs are designed to prepare students to address a wide range of healthcare challenges. UDM graduates go on to serve in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and community health initiatives, playing an integral role in improving public health outcomes.
UDM’s Role in Advancing SDG 3
As the world continues to face public health challenges, from pandemics to chronic illnesses, the need for well-trained healthcare professionals is greater than ever. UDM’s increasing number of health profession graduates positions the university as a key player in the pursuit of SDG 3, which calls for ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all.
Through its rigorous academic programs and practical training opportunities, UDM is committed to developing healthcare professionals who can address both current and emerging health issues, contributing to a healthier society.
Looking Ahead
With a steady increase in graduates from the Nursing and Physical Therapy departments, UDM continues to strengthen its role in supporting the healthcare sector. As the university remains dedicated to producing professionals who prioritize patient care and community health, it is clear that UDM will play a vital role in achieving the targets set by SDG 3 in the years to come.
