On September 19, 2024, a distinguished delegation from Universidad de Manila (UDM) visited the European University at St. Petersburg (EUSP) to promote academic collaboration and institutional partnerships. Led by Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria, UDM President, the delegation included key university officials: Dr. Ronald A. Herrera, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Mr. Jeffrey Litan, Vice President for Controllership; and Mr. Manfredo A. Marcellano, Vice President for Administration.
The visit was organized by UDM’s University Research Extension, Linkages, and International Affairs Office, showcasing UDM’s commitment to fostering international collaborations and improving educational opportunities for its students and faculty.
Upon arrival, the UDM officials were warmly welcomed by Natalia Mazur, Provost of EUSP, and Alla Samoletova, Chief of Staff. Both expressed enthusiasm about the potential for collaborative projects between the two universities, focusing on academic research, faculty exchange programs, and cross-cultural initiatives.
The delegation also engaged with Igor Khodachek, Director of the Centre for Eurasian Studies, and Irina Kaminker, Director of the International Programs Office. Discussions centered on exploring mutual research interests and increasing opportunities for global student exchanges, particularly in the fields of Eurasian studies, economics, and international relations.
This visit marks a significant milestone in UDM’s efforts to establish global partnerships and create academic opportunities for both faculty and students. Dr. Carlos-Tria emphasized the importance of such collaborations, stating, “We are delighted to strengthen ties with a world-class institution such as the European University in St. Petersburg; this visit opens doors for impactful exchanges that will contribute to our academic excellence.”
As both universities continue to discuss future joint initiatives, the visit underscores UDM’s dedication to expanding its international network, ultimately enriching the educational experiences of its community.
