Universidad de Manila (UdM) continues to champion job security and decent work practices in
the 2023–2024 academic year, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8) – Decent
Work and Economic Growth. With a total workforce of 292 employees, UdM is taking
significant strides toward creating stable employment opportunities for its faculty and
administrative staff.
The university’s workforce is composed of:

workforce, who benefit from secure employment and comprehensive benefits. This
highlights UdM’s commitment to retaining top educators through long–term employment.
• 126 Administrative Employees: Permanent appointees, comprising 41% of the
workforce, reinforcing the institution’s dedication to maintaining a stable and committed
administrative team.
• Contract of Service Employees: Despite being temporary or project–based, UdM
employs 60 individuals under contracts of service, with plans to explore ways of
increasing job security for these employees. This category includes 28 faculty and 46
administrative workers.
The employment distribution at UdM underscores its commitment to fostering a sustainable
work environment, where employees’ well–being and professional growth are at the forefront. By
offering permanent contracts to a majority of its workforce, the university ensures long–term
stability while continuously exploring options for improving job security for contract–based staff.
This focus on decent work aligns with the institution’s broader goal of promoting economic
growth through a secure and supported workforce, ultimately driving progress for the university
and the wider community.
