On February 15, 2024, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) officially launched its research initiative titled “Mind Matters: Evaluating Mental Health Awareness and Services Among Healthcare Providers in the City of Manila.” This critical project, aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good Health and Well-Being, aims to assess the current state of mental health awareness and the services available to healthcare providers within the city.
Led by UDM President Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria and Director of the University Research Center Dr. Leila R. Gano, the research is poised to provide valuable insights that will inform the development of a citywide mental health program. Supported by the City Health Department, the project underscores the importance of addressing mental health issues within the healthcare workforce, ensuring that providers are equipped with the resources and knowledge necessary to manage mental well-being effectively.
This initiative is expected to pave the way for more comprehensive mental health services in Manila, contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare delivery and the well-being of both providers and patients.
