The Associate in Barangay Governance (ABG) Program continues to inspire and empower local leaders, as shared by ABG Lecturer Ms. Patricia Rovie Salamero during her recent appraisal of the program’s impact on its graduates. Ms. Salamero reflected on the notable competencies developed by ABG student graduates, which have significantly enhanced their efficiency as public servants.
Ms. Salamero highlighted how the graduates acquired critical skills such as formulating their barangay’s mission and vision, which are integral to effective development planning. She also emphasized their ability to draft codes, ordinances, and policies that address pressing community needs. Additionally, the program equipped graduates with modern governance tools, including the creation of barangay websites and strategies for data gathering, such as the use of QR codes for streamlined operations.
Central to the ABG program’s impact is its emphasis on ethical leadership. Graduates have demonstrated transparency in financial matters, such as the proper liquidation of financial pay-outs, and a commitment to all-out service to their communities. These qualities have enhanced the graduates’ ability to fulfill their roles with integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
Ms. Salamero commended the program for shaping a new generation of barangay officials who are not only skilled but also deeply committed to uplifting their communities.
As the ABG program grows, its graduates continue to serve as living testaments to its success, embodying the values of ethical leadership and community empowerment while setting a new standard for barangay governance.
