Manila, Philippines — The Universidad de Manila (UDM) recently announced that its employees have taken advantage of a generous initiative by the City Government of Manila, receiving free annual physical check-ups as part of the city’s ongoing commitment to promoting the health and well-being of its workforce.
The program, which saw hundreds of UDM staff members undergo comprehensive health screenings, is designed to ensure the early detection of potential health issues and to encourage city employees to prioritize their well-being. The screenings included a variety of essential tests, such as blood pressure and sugar level checks, height and weight measurements, and basic laboratory tests, all conducted by qualified medical professionals from the City Health Department.
“We are grateful to the City Government of Manila for extending this valuable service to our employees,” said Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria, a key figure at UDM. “This program underscores the city’s commitment to the health and well-being of its workforce, including those who contribute to the education and development of our youth.”
Hon. Mayor Ma. Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan, who has been a strong advocate for the well-being of Manila’s employees, emphasized the importance of the program. “By providing regular health checks, we can identify potential health issues early on and provide timely interventions. We are committed to creating a healthy and supportive work environment for all our employees,” Mayor Lacuna-Pangan stated.
The initiative has been met with widespread approval from UDM employees, who appreciated the opportunity to receive thorough and free health assessments. Mr. Manfredo Marcellano, Vice President for Administration at UDM, expressed his gratitude, saying, “This program is a great benefit for us. It gives us peace of mind knowing that we have access to these important health screenings. It encourages us to prioritize our well-being and take proactive steps towards maintaining good health.”
The success of this health initiative highlights the City Government of Manila’s dedication to the welfare of its employees, particularly those in educational institutions like UDM. By investing in the health of its workforce, the city is setting a positive example for other local governments and organizations, demonstrating that a healthy workforce is key to a productive and thriving city.
As this program continues in the coming years, it will ensure that all city employees have access to regular health checks, further contributing to the overall health and productivity of Manila’s workforce.
