December 7, 2023— Tondo, Manila
On December 7, 2023, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) made a heartwarming impact on the lives of young children in one of Manila’s most underserved communities through its Volunteering Program. Held at the BRGY. 165 Tondo, Manila Daycare Center, this initiative is a testament to UDM’s dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1) – No Poverty, focusing on uplifting the education and well-being of children in need.
The program saw the participation of 30 daycare students who were given a day filled with learning, fun, and care. Led by UDM University Registrar Loida J. Primavera, along with 12 dedicated members of the UDM Committee, the volunteers engaged the children in various activities, including teaching, storytelling, and playtime. These interactions provided not only educational value but also the emotional support and attention that are crucial for the development of young minds.
This volunteer effort goes beyond just helping the children; it also serves as a powerful learning experience for the UDM students involved. By contributing their time and energy, these volunteers are not only enhancing the lives of the children but also cultivating a deep sense of social responsibility and empathy. The program embodies UDM’s commitment to creating positive change in the community, making a lasting impact on both the volunteers and the children they serve.
