UDM Hosts Successful STD & HIV Seminar and Testing: Empowering the Community for Better Health
May 2024— Universidad De Manila, Philippines In May 2024, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) took a significant step towards promoting public health and well-being by hosting an STD & HIV Seminar and Testing event at the CHS Skills Laboratory Room. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Manila Social Hygiene Clinic and led by the UDM Clinic, aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) – Good Health and Well-being, aiming to educate and empower the UDM community in the prevention and management of sexually transmitted diseases. The event saw the active participation of eight UDM Clinic staff members, 60 UDM employees, and 100 students, all of whom were engaged in comprehensive discussions and testing sessions focused on STD and HIV prevention. The seminar provided valuable insights and the latest information on how to protect oneself from sexually transmitted infections, emphasizing the importance of regular testing and safe practices. The collaboration with the Manila Social Hygiene Clinic ensured that participants received expert guidance and accurate information, making the event both educational and impactful. The testing component of the event allowed attendees to take proactive steps in managing their health, reinforcing the message that early detection and prevention are key to maintaining overall well-being. This seminar and testing event is part of UDM’s ongoing efforts to create a healthier campus environment and to raise awareness about critical health issues.
