UDM Implements Social Amelioration Program, Supporting Over 10,000 Students

In a significant effort to support its student community, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) successfully implemented a Social Amelioration Program (SAP) from October 21 to 23, 2023. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG 1) – No Poverty, this initiative provided crucial financial assistance to 10,117 students across various programs, helping to alleviate their financial burdens and allowing them to focus on their academic pursuits.

The SAP distribution, carried out under Manila City Ordinance 8568, included a comprehensive verification process to ensure that all beneficiaries met the necessary requirements. Students from diverse fields, including BSED – English, BS Nursing, BS Information Technology, BS Criminology, and many others, were among the recipients. The program covered students across a broad spectrum of disciplines, highlighting UDM’s commitment to inclusivity and support for its entire student body.

In addition to the financial aid distribution, informational booths were set up to provide students with guidance on various university support services. This holistic approach not only addressed immediate financial needs but also offered resources to help students navigate other challenges they may face during their academic journey.

The successful execution of this program underscores UDM’s dedication to the welfare of its students, demonstrating the university’s proactive role in ensuring that financial difficulties do not hinder educational success. By focusing on poverty alleviation through targeted support, UDM is making a lasting impact on the lives of its students and contributing to the broader goal of reducing poverty in Manila.
