UDM Honors Future Healthcare Frontliners at 28th CHS Nursing Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony
On March 29, 2025, the Universidad De Manila (UDM) celebrated a defining moment in the formation of its future nurses during the 28th CHS Nursing Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony, held at Palma Hall. The event gathered 120 Level II Nursing Students, supported by 7 full-time faculty, 21 part-time nursing educators, and over 150 proud parents and guests.
Spearheaded by the UDM Nursing Student Council, the ceremony marked the official transition of students from classroom-based learning to clinical practice, symbolizing their readiness to serve patients with competence and integrity. The traditional capping and pinning ritual represented the adoption of professional responsibility, while the candle lighting—rooted in the legacy of Florence Nightingale—stood as a commitment to selfless service, compassion, and ethical care.
Aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, the event demonstrated UDM’s strong role in building local healthcare capacity, ensuring that the City of Manila continues to produce community-grounded and service-oriented healthcare professionals. Each student who received their cap and pin is a future contributor to public health resilience, especially in underserved sectors.
More than ceremony, the occasion reaffirmed a promise: UDM nurses do not just enter the workforce; they enter with purpose. With the guidance of their mentors and the support of their families, they are now one step closer to becoming lifesavers, advocates, and healers in hospitals, communities, and beyond.
