In a collaborative effort to promote volunteerism, civic engagement, and public health, the Universidad de Manila (UDM), through its National Service Training Program (NSTP), partnered with the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) to conduct a bloodletting activity at the UDM campus on February 2, 2025.
The event successfully brought together UDM faculty and students to support this life-saving initiative, which emphasized the vital role of voluntary blood donation in addressing medical emergencies and saving lives. Guided by professional medical personnel from the PNRC, the drive ensured the safe collection and handling of donated blood, adhering to national health and safety standards.
NSTP students played an active role throughout the event as part of UDM’s student volunteering program, reflecting the university’s strong commitment to nurturing responsible, service-oriented citizens. Their participation not only demonstrated civic duty but also embodied the values of compassion, solidarity, and social responsibility.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, illustrating how academic institutions and humanitarian organizations can work hand in hand to promote public health, community engagement, and youth leadership. It also contributes to SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, as the act of giving blood reinforces a culture of care and shared humanity within the university community.
Through programs like this, UDM continues to empower its students as active volunteers and agents of change—proving that even the smallest act of giving can make the biggest difference.
