In a strong display of compassion, volunteerism, and civic responsibility, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) – NSTP Department, in collaboration with the Philippine Red Cross, successfully held a Blood Donation Drive on February 2, 2025, at the UDM Campus.
The event aimed to promote a culture of altruism and social responsibility among students and employees by encouraging them to donate blood for patients in need. Faculty members, student volunteers, and staff participated wholeheartedly, demonstrating the UDM community’s collective commitment to saving lives and supporting national health initiatives. Medical experts from the Philippine Red Cross facilitated the screening, collection, and post-donation procedures, ensuring that all participants underwent a safe and efficient process.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions and SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, as it reinforces the University’s commitment to fostering empathy, leadership, and civic consciousness — essential elements of building a peaceful and inclusive society.
Furthermore, this program fulfills UDM’s institutional criterion to identify and engage with local stakeholders through written policies and active collaboration with recognized community partners. By working with organizations such as the Philippine Red Cross, the University ensures that external stakeholders — including civic institutions and volunteers — play a meaningful role in university-led initiatives that promote public welfare, health, and nation-building.
Through the success of this Blood Donation Drive, UDM continues to embody its mission of uplifting lives through quality education and community service, cultivating a generation of students who are not only academically competent but also socially responsible and compassionate citizens.
