UDM Promotes TB Awareness Through National Tuberculosis Day Health Education Campaign
In observance of National Tuberculosis Day, the CHS Nursing Students – NR32 Group 9A, in collaboration with the UDM Clinic Staff, conducted a Health Education Program on Tuberculosis on August 20, 2025, at the Universidad De Manila Lobby. The activity engaged selected UDM students in an informative and interactive session focused on one of the country’s most persistent infectious threats.
Aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, the program aimed to strengthen campus-level disease prevention by providing essential knowledge on:
- Causes and bacterial origin of TB
- Modes of airborne transmission
- Recognizable symptoms such as chronic cough, fever, and weight loss
- Available treatment options under the DOTS protocol
- Preventive practices, including vaccination, good ventilation, and timely medical consultation
The initiative reinforced that awareness is a crucial shield against infection, especially in environments like schools and urban communities where close contact is frequent. Participants were encouraged to act not only for themselves but to advocate for early detection and responsible health behavior among family and peers.
By empowering students with life-saving information, UDM continues to cultivate a health-educated and socially responsible student body ready to contribute to public health resilience.
