In strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, the Universidad de Manila (UDM) has taken a progressive step by implementing a salary increase for its Contract of Service (COS) personnel, effective July 2025.
This milestone initiative establishes a fair, transparent, and performance-informed system for determining salary adjustments for COS employees. It recognizes their indispensable contribution to the University’s daily operations and overall institutional success. Through this measure, UDM reaffirms its commitment to ensuring fair and competitive compensation, reinforcing the principles of decent work, inclusivity, and social justice within the academic community.
More than a financial enhancement, the policy represents UDM’s belief that investing in people is investing in progress. By valuing and supporting its workforce, the University strengthens its mission of cultivating visionary, ethical, and service-oriented leaders who contribute meaningfully to society.
This initiative further advances SDG Target 8.5, which promotes full and productive employment and decent work for all, and SDG Target 8.2.1, emphasizing living wage practices. With this action, UDM sets a strong institutional example of prioritizing equity, dignity, and shared growth, ensuring that every member of its workforce thrives alongside the University’s continuing advancement.
