𝘚𝘦𝘰𝘶𝘭, 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘒𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘢 – 𝘈𝘶𝘨𝘶𝘴𝘵 15, 2025 — The Universidad De Manila (UDM) was honored on the global stage for its sustained commitment to fostering peace education, as its program was formally recognized during the International Forum on One Korea 2025 held in Seoul. The acknowledgment came during the high-level roundtable session on “Regional Solidarity for Korean Unification: Mobilizing the Indo-Pacific for Peace”, where Dr. In-Gill Ra, Regional Representative for Asia-Pacific of the Global Peace Foundation, commended the university for integrating peace education into the National Service Training Program (NSTP) curriculum.
The peace education initiative, which has engaged hundreds of UDM students, equips young people with the values, skills, and perspectives necessary to promote harmony, resolve conflicts, and contribute to a culture of understanding. In addition to classroom instruction, students actively participate in community-based activities and global initiatives, including the Youth Peace Summit organized by the Global Peace Foundation. This summit, also held in conjunction with the forum, gathered youth leaders from across the world to exchange strategies for advancing peace and cooperation—an effort aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria, UDM President, who personally attended the forum, received warm congratulations and commendations from international delegates for the university’s innovative approach to embedding peace education in its academic programs. Delegates expressed admiration for how UDM bridges local educational initiatives with global peacebuilding movements, making it a model for other institutions in the Indo-Pacific region.
Dr. Tria emphasized that the recognition reaffirms UDM’s mission to shape students not only into competent professionals but also into responsible global citizens who understand the importance of dialogue, respect, and cooperation. “Peace education is not just an academic subject—it is a life skill and a civic responsibility,” she remarked.
The acknowledgment at the International Forum on One Korea 2025 strengthens UDM’s position as a leading advocate for peace education in the Philippines, demonstrating that educational institutions can play a decisive role in promoting sustainable peace and regional solidarity.
