On September 4, 2025, the College of Health Sciences (CHS) Nursing Students – NR 33 Group 14D, in partnership with the UDM Clinic Staff, conducted a Dengue Awareness and Prevention Program at the Universidad De Manila Main Lobby. The initiative engaged selected UDM students in an interactive and informative session focused on one of the country’s most persistent public health threats: dengue fever.
Aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, the activity strengthened UDM’s commitment to preventive healthcare and health literacy, recognizing that outbreaks can be dramatically reduced when communities are well-informed and proactive.
The program provided essential knowledge on:
- Causes and modes of transmission of dengue
- Early symptoms and warning signs requiring urgent medical attention
- Environmental control strategies, including proper waste management and elimination of stagnant water
- Personal and household prevention practices such as mosquito repellents and protective clothing
Participants were also encouraged to act as health advocates within their own homes and barangays, turning the campaign into a multiplier effort for broader community protection.
By equipping students with life-saving knowledge and practical solutions, UDM reinforces that education extends beyond classrooms—it safeguards lives. Through continuous public health initiatives like this, the university ensures that every student becomes both a learner and a protector of community well-being.
