UDM Promotes Wellness and Community Care Through Hepatitis B Seminar and Soup Kitchen Initiative
On February 14, 2025, the University Health Services Administration and Staff of Universidad De Manila (UDM) organized a Hepatitis B Seminar at the UDM Lobby, integrating health education with immediate student welfare support through a Soup Kitchen Activity.
Aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, the program addressed two crucial dimensions of student wellness:
- Preventive Health Awareness — Participants were briefed on Hepatitis B transmission, symptoms, long-term effects on liver health, and available vaccination and treatment protocols. The seminar emphasized the importance of early screening and responsible health practices, particularly among young adults living in close-contact environments such as dormitories and shared spaces.
- Nutritional and Emotional Support — Following the health session, a Soup Kitchen Pantry was offered to the UDM community, providing nutritious meals at no cost. This simple yet meaningful gesture reinforced that healthcare extends beyond treatment—food security and nourishment are equally vital components of disease prevention and recovery.
The dual approach reflected UDM’s belief that a healthy university is not only medically informed but socially supported. By combining medical education with compassionate service, the event contributed to a culture of unity, resilience, and shared responsibility for well-being.
