In alignment with SDG 5 – Gender Equality and SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, the Universidad De Manila (UDM) held two significant awareness activities on December 5, 2024, aimed at promoting safety, respect, and inclusivity within the university community.
A Lecture Forum on Republic Act 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act, was conducted for students to strengthen their understanding of laws protecting individuals from gender-based harassment in schools, workplaces, and public spaces. The session emphasized the importance of fostering a learning environment built on mutual respect, equality, and accountability.
On the same day, a Seminar on Anti-Bullying in the Workplace was organized for UDM employees, with Atty. Glen Ardona, Legal Officer of the Manila Bulletin, serving as the resource speaker. His discussion focused on identifying workplace bullying behaviors, understanding legal remedies, and creating systems that uphold employee dignity and well-being.
The events were actively participated in by UDM officials, faculty members, and student organizations, reflecting the University’s collective commitment to building a safe, inclusive, and empowered academic community.
Through these initiatives, UDM reaffirms its role as an advocate for human rights, gender sensitivity, and mental well-being, ensuring that both students and employees thrive in a culture of safety and respect.
