UDM Promotes Preventive Health Through Diabetes Awareness Seminar for Students
In its ongoing commitment to SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, Universidad De Manila (UDM) hosted a Diabetes Awareness Seminar on March 11, 2025, at the UDM University Library, led by the University Health Services Administration and Staff.
The seminar gathered selected university students for an informative session focused on understanding the causes, types, and risk factors of Diabetes Mellitus, one of the most prevalent lifestyle-related diseases among Filipinos. Participants learned essential strategies for early detection, diet management, physical activity, and routine screening—key tools in preventing complications such as heart disease, kidney failure, and vision loss.
By educating students early, the program reinforces UDM’s belief that health literacy is one of the strongest forms of disease prevention. It also encouraged attendees to become advocates of wellness within their own families and communities, amplifying the program’s impact beyond campus walls.
The initiative not only raised awareness—it fostered a sense of responsibility and empowerment, reminding students that healthy living is not just a personal goal but a social commitment.
