UDM Observes National Tuberculosis Day with Campus Health Education Drive
In recognition of National Tuberculosis Day, the CHS Nursing Students – NR32 Group 9A, in partnership with the UDM Clinic Staff, conducted a Health Education Program on Tuberculosis on August 20, 2025, at the Universidad de Manila Lobby. The activity engaged selected UDM students in a structured learning session focused on one of the most persistent public health concerns in the Philippines.
Aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, the initiative provided essential knowledge on:
- Causes and bacterial origin of tuberculosis
- Modes of transmission, especially in densely populated areas
- Symptoms and early warning signs requiring medical attention
- Treatment protocols under the Directly Observed Treatment, Short-Course (DOTS) strategy
- Prevention methods, including hygiene practices and vaccination
By addressing stigma and misinformation surrounding TB, the program empowered students to act not only as informed individuals but also as health advocates within their households and communities.
The event reaffirmed UDM’s commitment to disease prevention through education, ensuring that its students become active contributors to public health resilience—not just future healthcare professionals, but responsible citizens equipped with life-saving knowledge.
