UDM Equips Employees with Lifesaving Skills Through Basic Life Support Training
On April 4, 2025, Universidad De Manila (UDM), through its University Health Services Administration and Staff, held a Basic Life Support (BLS) Program at Palma Hall, empowering university employees with essential emergency response skills.
Aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, the training aimed to ensure that members of the UDM community are prepared to act swiftly and confidently during medical emergencies, particularly in cases of cardiac arrest, choking, or sudden collapse—situations where immediate action can mean the difference between life and death.
Participants were trained in:
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Proper use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Conscious and unconscious choking response techniques
- Assessment and stabilization procedures while waiting for professional medical help
Beyond technical instruction, the program emphasized responsibility, preparedness, and community safety, reinforcing the message that healthcare is not only the job of professionals—everyone can be a lifesaver with the right training.
Through this initiative, UDM demonstrated that a resilient and health-conscious institution is built not only by policies, but by people equipped with the knowledge to protect one another.
