On May 6 and 7, 2025, the University Health Services of Universidad De Manila (UDM) launched the program “Be Aware, Take Care: HIV Education for a Stronger Future” at the UDM University Library, gathering both students and employees for a comprehensive HIV awareness seminar and voluntary testing initiative.
In support of SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, the program tackled critical information on HIV, including modes of transmission, risk factors, myths and misconceptions, updated treatments, and the importance of early diagnosis. Participants were also oriented on safe sexual practices and preventive behaviors, emphasizing that responsible decisions protect not only oneself but also partners and communities.
What made the event more impactful was the inclusion of on-site HIV screening, demonstrating UDM’s proactive stance that awareness must be paired with accessible health services. By normalizing testing and promoting openness, the university helped reduce the stigma that often prevents individuals from seeking help.
Through this initiative, UDM reaffirmed its commitment to empowering its academic community through education, compassion, and courage—building a future where health awareness is not feared, but embraced.
