Social Amelioration Program (SAP)
Manila, Philippines — In a continuing effort to promote inclusive education and alleviate financial hardship among students, the City Government of Manila, through its Social Amelioration Program (SAP), has released ₱3,000 financial assistance to 9,885 students from the Universidad de Manila (UDM) – College of Arts and Sciences. The distribution took place from May 20 to 31, 2025, covering the second semester of School Year 2024–2025, specifically for the months of January to March 2025.
This initiative underscores the local government’s commitment to supporting low-income students in their pursuit of higher education, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their academic journey. The program forms part of the city’s continuing efforts to uphold the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
Through the SAP assistance, UDM students are able to better sustain their educational needs such as transportation, meals, and other academic expenses. This financial aid not only provides short-term relief but also strengthens long-term student retention, motivation, and academic performance — key outcomes aligned with the University’s mission to empower Manileños through accessible and equitable education.
UDM continues to champion inclusive learning by complementing city-funded programs with scholarship partnerships from national agencies and private foundations. The University ensures that students from low-income households receive comprehensive financial aid, fostering a more equitable and supportive learning environment for all.
This latest distribution of student assistance reflects the enduring partnership between Universidad de Manila and the City Government of Manila, a shared vision of transforming education into a powerful tool for social mobility and community development.
