Seoul, South Korea โ August 14, 2025 โ Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria, President of Universidad De Manila (UDM), represented the university at the prestigious International Forum on One Korea 2025, held at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul. The event, organized by the Global Peace Foundation, Action for Korea United, and the Global Peace Institute, brought together more than 1,000 leaders and advocates from across the globe to advance shared goals in peacebuilding, environmental sustainability, and youth empowerment.
Dr. Triaโs active participation was highlighted during a roundtable session that addressed three interlinked themes: Environmental Forestation, Cross-Border Peace Initiatives, and Youth Leadership. She emphasized the critical role of higher education in mobilizing communities for reforestation projects, fostering intercultural understanding, and empowering young people to lead initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Facilitated the discussion floor were esteemed global figures such as Mr. David Caprara, Strategic Advisor of the Global Peace Foundation; Mr. Suddarth Chatterjee, UN Resident Coordinator in China; and Ambassador Enkhsaikhan Jargalsaikhan, former Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the UN, Dr. Tria underscored the importance of inclusive leadership and multi-stakeholder collaboration in addressing both environmental and geopolitical challenges.
Her engagement at the forum further positioned UDM as an active contributor to global dialogues on sustainability and peace. By linking local initiatives to global frameworks, Dr. Tria demonstrated how academic institutions can serve as catalysts for transformative changeโbridging research, policy, and grassroots action to create long-term impact.
Through this participation, UDM strengthened its international network and reaffirmed its commitment to producing leaders who not only excel academically but also uphold the values of peace, environmental stewardship, and global citizenship.
