In June 4, 2025, he Batch Mabalasik Criminology Interns of the Universidad de Manila participated in an insightful learning session on Civil Disturbance Management. The session, facilitated by PSSG Philipson B. Llorente, focused on effective crowd control techniques during protests and included hands-on demonstrations for practical learning.
The program carried the theme โDisaster Resilience: Integrating Disturbance Management into Broader Resilience Strategiesโ, emphasizing not only the technical skills required in managing civil unrest but also the development of personal attributes essential for effective law enforcement. Interns were trained to strengthen their inner resilience, self-reliance, moral integrity, and bravery, while maintaining discipline and tolerance amidst chaos.
In his concluding message, PSSG Llorente reminded participants of the importance of knowledge and preparedness, stating:
โIf you go out there, caught in the middle of civil unrest without knowledge and skill, you will end up either being a victim or becoming violent. Appreciate Civil Disturbance Management Operation as Police Work.โ
This program reinforced the core values of peacekeeping, discipline, and moral integrityโkey foundations of SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutionsโpreparing future criminologists to serve society with competence and compassion.
