In a proactive effort to promote public health and sustainable living, the CHS Student Council of Universidad de Manila conducted a Health Promotion Program at Barangay 790, Zone 86, Sta. Ana, Manila. Themed “Healthy Habitat: Sustainable Community Solutions for Vector and Domestic Animal Management,” the initiative aimed to educate and empower residents on effective strategies to maintain a safe and eco-friendly environment.
The program featured a series of community engagement activities, including house-to-house visits where student volunteers shared quick reminders about the dangers of dengue and how to prevent its spread. These visits emphasized the importance of cleanliness, proper waste disposal, and eliminating stagnant water sources that serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
By fostering awareness and encouraging action, the CHS Student Council demonstrated its commitment to public service and community partnership. The event also aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 17 – Partnership for the Goals, highlighting the power of collaboration between academic institutions and local communities in addressing health and environmental challenges.
This initiative not only strengthened ties between the university and the barangay but also reinforced the role of youth leadership in driving meaningful change at the grassroots level.
