Universidad de Manila (UDM) reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance as it successfully conducted its Faculty Development Program (FDP) 2025 from December 3 to 5, 2025, in Tagaytay City. The three-day intensive training brought together university administrators and faculty members to strengthen Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) implementation, curriculum alignment, and instructional effectiveness across all academic programs.
The program formally opened on December 3, with Dr. Silvia C. Ambag, University Researcher III, serving as Master of Ceremonies. In her opening remarks, Dr. Ambag welcomed participants to a learning initiative designed to enhance institutional teaching standards and align academic programs with national and global quality benchmarks. The opening ceremonies included the Philippine National Anthem and Institutional Prayer, followed by a roll call of participating colleges and departments.
UDM President Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the strategic role of faculty development in sustaining accreditation outcomes, global competitiveness, and student-centered learning. She highlighted the importance of continuous professional growth among faculty members as a pillar of institutional transformation.
An overview of the three-day training was presented by Dr. Rejan L. Tadeo, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who underscored the program’s focus on OBE ecosystems, constructive alignment, and continuous improvement mechanisms aligned with Commission on Higher Education (CHED) standards.
Day 1: Strengthening the OBE Foundation
The morning sessions featured Dr. Marjorie S. Gutierrez-Tanggog, who led discussions on OBE Ecosystem Intelligence and the review and development of Program Educational Objectives (PEOs). These sessions guided faculty in designing coherent learning systems that ensure graduates achieve intended competencies aligned with institutional mission and industry needs.
In the afternoon, Sessions 3 and 4 focused on finalizing Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and constructive alignment, facilitated by Dr. Manuel Richard B. Martinez, Dr. Ronnie F. Sta. Maria, and Prof. Alistair B. Selorio. The discussions emphasized aligning teaching strategies, assessment tools, and learning activities to ensure measurable and meaningful student outcomes.
Day 2: Curriculum Mapping and Evaluation
On December 4, with Dr. Racidon Bernarte as EMCEE, participants engaged in deeper discussions on curriculum mapping and teaching–learning strategies. The sessions reinforced learner-centered approaches and the alignment of course outcomes with program-level objectives.
The afternoon sessions focused on evaluating OBE implementation, synthesis, and an open forum, allowing faculty members to reflect on best practices, identify challenges, and share insights for continuous program improvement.
Day 3: Synthesis and Forward Direction
The final day, December 5, featured a plenary session that consolidated key insights from the previous sessions, highlighting institutional strategies for strengthening OBE implementation across colleges. The program concluded with a closing ceremony, recognizing the commitment of faculty members, facilitators, and administrators in advancing instructional quality and academic excellence.
Through this Faculty Development Program, UDM continues to build a strong culture of quality, innovation, and accountability in higher education—ensuring that its academic offerings remain relevant, responsive, and globally aligned.
