Universidad de Manila (UDM) has taken a significant step toward global academic recognition after successfully conducting a two-day WURI 2026 Projects Orientation, Brainstorming, and Finalization Workshop on December 11–12, bringing together key academic and administrative leaders to consolidate the university’s institutional submissions for the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026.
The activity gathered designated focal persons and project writers from various colleges and offices to ensure that UDM’s innovative programs and initiatives are aligned with WURI’s impact-driven framework, which highlights real-world solutions, leadership, sustainability, and social innovation beyond conventional academic rankings.
During the workshop, participants were oriented on the WURI philosophy, axes, and categories, followed by intensive brainstorming and validation sessions. These collaborative discussions enabled the refinement of project concepts, strengthening their innovation value, societal relevance, and scalability. The open exchange of ideas across academic and administrative units further reinforced UDM’s culture of collaboration and shared responsibility in advancing institutional innovation.
As a major outcome of the workshop, the university successfully finalized fifteen (15) institutional project entries across Axes A, B, and C of WURI 2026. These include flagship initiatives focused on student support and engagement, crisis management, ethics and governance, disaster preparedness, sustainability, visionary leadership, empowerment-based management, digital infrastructure, internationalization, scholarship sustainability, research excellence, curricular innovation, and inclusive social impact for underserved communities.
Notable entries include the Student Advancement and Prosperity Program (SAP), UDM ClinicCare Record Management System, EAT–Seismic Sentinel Initiative, Program FUSE, UDM iCONNECT, and UDM C.A.R.E.S., among others, collectively showcasing the university’s holistic and future-ready innovation ecosystem.
University leaders emphasized that the WURI 2026 participation is not merely a ranking exercise but a strategic platform to highlight UDM’s meaningful contributions to society, responsive governance, and commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. The finalized entries reflect programs that are already creating impact while offering strong potential for replication and scaling at the national and international levels.
With the completion of the orientation and finalization workshop, the university now moves toward the full documentation and submission phase, supported by internal review and quality assurance mechanisms. Through these efforts, Universidad de Manila reaffirms its vision of becoming a globally competitive institution recognized for innovation, leadership, and social relevance.
