In support of SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 5 – Gender Equality, the Universidad De Manila (UDM) continues to advance women’s participation in academic programs and disciplines where they are traditionally underrepresented. Through university outreach initiatives and collaborative partnerships with other higher education institutions, community organizations, government agencies, and NGOs, UDM aims to create equitable opportunities for women to thrive in all areas of study.
The initiative seeks to encourage applications by women in fields such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), information technology, and physical education, where female representation has historically been low. By providing mentorship, awareness campaigns, and targeted recruitment programs, UDM promotes a culture of inclusivity and empowerment—ensuring that women are not only encouraged to enter these disciplines but also supported to excel within them.
Through its Women’s Mentoring Schemes and ongoing engagement in education campaigns, the university strengthens its commitment to bridging gender gaps in learning and leadership. These efforts are reinforced by training programs, scholarships, and advocacy events that highlight women’s vital roles in innovation, research, and social development.
UDM believes that empowering women in underrepresented subjects is key to national progress and sustainable growth. By breaking barriers and expanding access, the university continues to nurture a generation of women leaders who contribute meaningfully to their professions, communities, and the nation.
