On August 30, 2025, nurses, student leaders, and health advocates came together at Palma Hall, Universidad de Manila (UDM) for a day of empowerment, solidarity, and advocacy led by ANG NARS in collaboration with selected College of Health Sciences (CHS) faculty and student leaders. The event, themed “NURSES’ RIGHTS = NURSES’ POWER: Use Your Voice – Speak Up!”, celebrated the indispensable role of nurses as frontliners and champions of public health.
The program underscored the importance of protecting and promoting nurses’ rights to ensure they are valued, supported, and heard within the healthcare system. Through inspiring talks, interactive discussions, and collaborative activities, participants reaffirmed their dedication to advancing the welfare of nurses and the communities they compassionately serve.
A key highlight of the event was the shared message of empowerment—encouraging nurses and nursing students to speak up, engage in dialogue, and take an active role in shaping the future of healthcare in the Philippines. The advocacy also reinforced the idea that nurses are not only caregivers but also leaders, educators, and advocates for social justice in the health sector.
This meaningful initiative embodies the spirit of Sustainable Development Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, emphasizing the strength of collaboration between professional organizations and academic institutions in achieving sustainable progress. By working hand in hand, ANG NARS and UDM demonstrated how collective action can drive positive change, uplift healthcare workers, and inspire the next generation of nurse-leaders.
As ANG NARS aptly expressed, “Tagapag-alaga ng Nag-aalaga ng Maysakit”—nurses deserve to be cared for, respected, and empowered.
