In alignment with SDG 4 – Quality Education, the Universidad De Manila launched the Continuing Education for the Geriatrics of Barangay 790, held at Barangay 790, Sta. Ana, Manila. Spearheaded by Physical Education students, the program served as a community-based initiative focused on promoting lifelong learning and active aging among senior citizens.
Rather than limiting education to the classroom, the program brought interactive learning and wellness-focused activities directly to the elderly sector, addressing both mental stimulation and social connection. Through structured games, light physical exercises, memory-based challenges, and group discussions, seniors were encouraged to stay mentally alert, socially engaged, and emotionally uplifted.
The initiative underscored that education does not end in youth — it can and must continue throughout one’s lifespan. By providing meaningful engagement opportunities, UDM helped fight isolation, cognitive decline, and inactivity, common struggles among the elderly population.
This effort reflects a deeper philosophy: a learning society values every generation. Through compassion-driven instruction and community immersion, UDM students learned just as much from their senior participants as they imparted — proving that quality education is reciprocal, inclusive, and timeless.
