On July 21, 2025, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) of Universidad De Manila (UDM) led a meaningful act of service through its Community Engagement – Community Kitchen Pantry, held at the UDM Main Campus. The initiative brought together SSG members and fellow students in a coordinated effort to provide freshly prepared meals to students experiencing financial strain, reinforcing the university’s growing culture of compassion and collective responsibility.
Far beyond a simple feeding activity, the Community Kitchen Pantry demonstrated how peer-led action can directly support SDG 1 – No Poverty. By addressing food insecurity within the student body, the SSG recognized that academic success is often hindered not by intellect, but by hunger and economic hardship.
The activity fostered a warm and welcoming environment, where students were encouraged not just to receive meals but to connect with one another. In many cases, the initiative served as an emotional boost—reminding struggling learners that they are not alone, and that the campus community stands with them.
With support from volunteers and university personnel, the event showcased UDM’s values in practice: education, when paired with empathy, becomes a powerful tool for resilience.
