Organized by the Global Peace Foundation, Action for Korea United, and the Global Peace Institute, the event underscored the shared commitment to peacebuilding, environmental restoration, and youth leadership in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria, President of Universidad De Manila, participated in a high-level roundtable session that addressed critical themes: Environmental Forestation, Cross-Border Peace Initiatives, and Youth Leadership. Her involvement emphasized the growing role of academic institutions in advancing sustainable development and fostering global solidarity, resonating with SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The forum featured prominent international figures, including Mr. David Caprara, Strategic Advisor of the Global Peace Foundation; Mr. Suddarth Chatterjee, UN Resident Coordinator in China; and Ambassador Enkhsaikhan Jargalsaikhan, former Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the UN. Their insights reinforced the necessity of collaborative governance and multilateral cooperation in addressing complex global challenges.
Also in attendance were esteemed former heads of state and government: H.E. Vinicio Cerezo, former President of Guatemala; H.E. Jamil Mahuad, former President of Ecuador; H.E. Kenny Anthony, former Prime Minister of Saint Lucia; and H.E. Luis Alberto Castiglioni Soria, former Vice President of Paraguay, alongside members of parliament from various nations. Their presence reflected the forumβs stature as a platform for experienced statespersons to mentor the next generation of leaders while advancing inclusive peace processes.
Through its thematic sessions, the International Forum on One Korea 2025 reaffirmed the power of people-to-people diplomacy and cross-sectoral partnerships in building a unified, peaceful, and sustainable future for the Korean Peninsula and the world. By integrating environmental stewardship, youth empowerment, and diplomatic dialogue, the forum embodied a holistic approach that mirrors the interconnected nature of the UN SDGs.
